An Update to development


Hey all! Sorry to keep you all waiting too long for this massive update but I have some big news to share with you all. I am finalising development of this patch and the reason it had become so big is that it is pretty much changes every aspect about what was currently in the game and adds on a bunch of new features and improvements.

 I can confidently say that I will be able to push out this update sometime next week but I on what specific time/date.

However, for now, I can list off every new feature and change in the patch notes below!

Changes include but are not limited to:

Course updates

- New Track: Dusty Lunar Valley

        - This track was built from the ground up all with its own original assets and textures.

        - There are 3 total laps and many alternate/hidden paths to take for the fastest times!

        - My most ambitious/creative 3D zone yet!

- City Mayhem

        - The first split path on City mayhem has been updated in the underground area so it now feels less empty and bland.

        - fixed some floors so you can't see  through small cracks anymore.

        - Adjusted the Splines.

Gamemodes

- Xtreme!!

       - This new gamemode has you reace against an extra difficult AI racer that is super fast and knows the best routes.

       - the Player vehicle also has increased acceleration and steering capabilities.

- Solo

        - Drive around a track with no laps or enemy racers to get to know the layouts better!

- Versus

        - The standard gamemode.

Graphics

- Lighting

        - On CIty Mayhem, The sun casts directly down now.

        - Real-time shadows are now hard.

- Camera

        - Slightly decreased the pixelation factor.

        - Disabled interlacing.

                - I made this change as interlacing just looks horrible when games are played at lower than 60fps.

        - Adjusted dithering effect.

        - The default resolution is now 1440x1080 which is 4:3 aspect ratio.

- Other

        - Changed fog colour on City Mayhem.

        - The frame rate is now capped to 25.

        - There is now a special build which caps the frame rate to 50.

Graphical user interface

- Menu

        - Recreated the title screen from scratch. It uses 3D graphics.

        - Added a level selection screen where you can select the aformentioned gamemodes.

-In game

        - Added a new font thats fits a lot better compared to the stock font.

        - Some text no longer looks blurry.

        - Some other adjustments (size changes, etc).

        - UI also fits 4:3 aspect ratio.

Other

        - You can now  quit to the title screen when ever by pressing ESC on your keyboard.

        - Various optimisations have been made to loading times meaning scenes should load in and out faster.

That should be everything included in the upcoming update. 1.1.0.X should (hopefully!) be the final update for PSX Racer as I move onto newer projects . I will also update the screenshot section with new footage once the update is deployed hopefully next week. I deeply thank anyone for trying any games i create.
